This jam features some folks who have been immersed in the region's music for decades so there are probably few Old Time or Bluegrass tune requests you could make that they couldn't play. Pickers sit in the jam circle, with plenty of chairs for listening and enough floor space for the dancers. Wade Petty, a fine fiddler from the area is a frequent attendee at the jam, as is Eddie Bond. If you want to discuss heritage music, you've come to the right place. Fries is a mill town on the New River where musicians who were part of the wave of early country music recordings like Henry Whitter and Earnest "Pop" Stoneman used to hang their hats. Virtuoso banjo player Eddie Arnold was also from Fries.
