They take authentic Old Time music seriously at this jam. In warm weather they gather under the trees on the lawn or under the picturesque gazebo to play tunes until late in the evening. In winter, the jam moves inside the old courthouse building (look for the historical museum exhibits inside) and the musicians gathered in a circle take turns suggesting what to play next. Authentic Old Time music often involves specific tunings on the fiddle and banjo and it’s easier on everyone if the selected tunes are all in the same key to avoid retuning. This jam follows that practice to the max, designating in advance each week which key they will be playing in. Old Time fiddler Jerry Correll is a mainstay at this jam and is a real student of fiddle music, from both inside the region and out.
